L’11 novembre, il giorno di San Martino, corrispondeva alla chiusura dell’anno contadino, si faceva il resoconto dell’annata e su come era andata la produzione agricola, tracciandone il bilancio.
Anche i proprietari dei terreni valutavano la produttività e redditività dei loro possedimenti e dati in affitto ai vari contadini, ne valutavano la gestione, la quantità e qualità dei prodotti, quindi la bravura di questi. Ovviamente non sempre tutto andava per il verso giusto, molte volte il proprietario non era soddisfatto del lavoro fatto e della resa delle sue terre, aveva inoltre la possibilità di non rinnovare la concessione per l’anno successivo; ciò significava che il contadino avrebbe avuto 15 giorni di tempo per prendere le proprie cose e trovare un’altra sistemazione. Da San Martino a Sant’Andrea era il tempo concesso per svuotare le case e andarsene, questa pratica è arrivata fino ai giorni nostri con nome “Far San Martin”.
Nell’opera è rappresentato il Sig. F. Marinotti, industriale degli anni ’20 che aveva delle proprietà a Fratta.

November 11th, St. Martin’s Day, formerly corresponded to the end of the farming year. Farmers would look back at the past year, making an account of the production and a financial report.
The owners of the lands rented to the farmers would evaluate the productivity of their land, but also its management, the quality of products and the ability of farmers themselves as well. It goes without saying that not always things went the right way and if the owner wasn’t satisfied with the results given by the farmers that year, they could decide not to renew the rent for the following one. That would mean the farmers would have 15 days to take their belongings and find another place to stay. The time given was therefore the period between St. Martin’s Day and St. Andrew’s Day, hence the name “Far San Martin” (lit. to do St. Martin).
The painting represents Mr. F. Marinotti, a 1920s industrialist who owned some of the lands in Fratta.

Der 11. November, der Tag des Heiligen Martinus, entsprach dem Ende des Bauernjahres: Bericht über das Erntejahr und die Entwicklung der landwirtschaftlichen Produktion (Bilanzsumme).
Auch die Grundstückseigentümer bewerteten die Produktivität und Rentabilität ihrer Grundstücke. Sie bewerteten die Fähigkeiten der Bauern, an die sie das Land vermietet hatten. Oft war der Besitzer unzufrieden mit der Arbeit der Bauern auf seinem Land und beschloss, den Vertrag für das folgende Jahr nicht zu verlängern. Der Bauer hatte 15 Tage Zeit gehabt, seine Sachen zu packen und eine andere Hause zu finden.
“Far San Martin” ist die Zeit, die man hat, um Häuser zu räumen und abzuhauen (von San Martino bis San Andrea).
In der Oper wurde Herr F. Marinotti, ein Industrieherr der 20er Jahre, vertreten, der Besitz in Fratta besaß.
