L’opera riproduce un angolo della frazione di Colmaggiore di Sotto, dove si trova tutt’ora la fontana che dà il titolo all’affresco. La fontana in oggetto è stata restaurata nel 2005 dai volontari dell’associazione Va dee Femene.
Quando l’acqua corrente non arrivava in tutte le case, la fontana rappresentava un punto d’incontro dove tutti si recavano per attingere l’acqua per cucinare, per lavare, per abbeverare gli animali. Dove c’è acqua c’è vita!
L’autore, Franco Corrocher di Conegliano, ha eseguito l’opera nel 2009, con la tecnica dell’affresco, cioè dipingendo mentre l’intonaco è ancora umido in modo che il colore venga assorbito e rimanga fissato, resistendo all’acqua e al tempo.

The work depicts a corner of the village of Colmaggiore di Sotto, where even now is located the fountain that inspired the work. The fountain was restored in 2005 by the volunteers of the Va Dee Femene associations.
When houses didn’t have running water yet, the fountain was a place to gather and to take the water to wash, cook and give to animals. Where there’s water, there’s life!
The author Franco Corrocher, from Conegliano, realized the painting in 2009 as a fresco, that is using a technique in which the paint is applied while the plaster is still wet, so that they may merge and the color may resist water and time.
The faces depicted in the fresco were taken by photos of local residents.

Technik: Fresko (streichen während der Putz noch feucht ist, damit die Farbe absorbiert und fixiert wird und Wasser und Zeit widersteht)
Das Werk beschreibt einen Ort von Colmaggiore di Sotto, wo sich noch immer der Brunnen der Freske befindet. Der Brunnen wurde 2005 von Freiwilligen des Vereins Va dee Femene restauriert. Wenn fließendes Wasser nicht in alle Häuser gelangte, war der Brunnen ein Treffpunkt, an dem sich alle zu Wasser machten, um zu kochen, zu waschen, die Tiere zu tränken. Wo Wasser ist, ist Leben!
